“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (Luke 4:17-19)
The Importance of Mission
When we follow God, He invites us to join in on what He’s doing in the world. Whether that’s here in Wellington or further overseas, we all have a part to play. All Saints believes that mission is the result of who we are in Christ, as we reach others with the love of God.
Overseas Mission
Overseas Mission is a vital part of the outreach of the parish and Council has resolved to give 10% of all “General” giving to external mission. This consists of regular monthly giving to the Anglican Missions Board (AMB) which supports seven missions in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Polynesia, Melanesia and Tanzania. Through direct giving to the NZ Church Missionary Society (CMS), we also support the work of Josephine & Stephen from our own parish and other mission needs.
Other external missions are also supported from time to time and previous fundraising projects have included raising money for a World Vision water tank and youth pizza fundraiser for Burma.
How can I support our mission partners?
News about missionaries and local events is posted on the board at the back of the church and via the weekly newsletter. Prayer support is encouraged through use of the AMB and CMS prayer guides. Used stamps are collected in the box in the entrance foyer of the church and forwarded to the Anglican Missions Board.
The overseas mission coordinator is Val Smith. Val can be contacted through the church office
